Improv is usually sold as a way to be funny on demand. The Studio used it for something else.
Jim Ewing led the night. Experienced improvisational actors and people who had never tried it worked the same material, using techniques rooted in the improv tradition to sharpen instinct and presence.
The target was not the laugh. It was building richer, more truthful scripted characters from the inside out.
