Second Prime begins
A Pelham Fringe initiative for women playwrights 50+, launched by developing Joni Fritz’s one-act A Leave of Absence in one focused room.
Second Prime is a Pelham Fringe initiative built to champion and develop the work of women playwrights over fifty, through an ongoing incubator dedicated to new work with production as the goal.
It opened with Joni Fritz. The room read and discussed her one-act A Leave of Absence, and then, after notes, the actors went back and did scenes again.
Not multiple pieces. Not a rotation of readers. One play, with the writer in the room.
What connects us is the desire to create — and the belief that there is still so much more ahead. If anything, as life changes us, we have even more to say. We see the world through a different lens — and that gives us new stories to tell and new ways to tell them. And when those stories reach an audience, they can open a window into someone else’s life — and sometimes help us understand something about our own.
